Steve started his own business from his home with the help of his parents, Al and Isabel Walther 32 years ago. They both got their licenses and Isabel also helped with the administrative duties. The business moved to its present location on Titus Avenue, Irondequoit in 1986. The business’ signature color is bright yellow and was painted “safety yellow” in 1999 to match the signs. It is now a landmark in the Irondequoit area, and was the inspiration for the business's new logo as of Jan. 1, 2006.
Steve created a niche for his business by focusing on Irondequoit and its surrounding suburbs. He wanted to establish expertise in certain markets to offer his clients a solid knowledge base of the area and its homes.
Steve and his wife Roxanne appreciate older houses and the character they exude. They purchased their present home on St. Paul Blvd, built in 1914, in 1975 and have spent years stripping wood, painting, and restoring its original details. Steve's son Greg and daughter Erica are now doing the same thing with their spouses and their older Irondequoit homes.
Presently the office has close to 20 agents. A couple of them have been with the office for close to 20 years. Steve’s son, daughter, sister, and brother-in-law are all involved with the office. Steve participates in community efforts by supporting the schools or charities with donations. He also sits on committees and is a member and former President of the Irondequoit Chamber of Commerce. Being active in the community is very important for Steve and many of the Agents. Steve takes pride in establishing long lasting relationships with his clients.
In this day and age the smaller business is becoming less and less visible. WALTHER REALTORS continues to persevere and commit to superb, hands on service. Steve appreciates all the clients that come through his business either with him or the Agents. In a sales related business, referrals are what helps one thrive. He hopes that the public sees the importance of supporting the local businesses in their area and what they have to offer the community.
